Hi,

 

It sounds like your PC is not seeing your hardware key.

 

You can probably ignore the "checkplusid" utility.  Older versions of PADS had the ability to use a "CPLUS_ID" hardware key - and it sounds like that utility is related to that dongle rather than the FLEXID=9-........ dongle you mention.

 

You will need the hardware key drivers for that version of PADS.  My software archive starts with the 2007.2 release and this gives you options to install hardware key drivers at the time of installation.  If you re-install and look out for hardware key / dongle drivers / an option to install licensing, then you should be able to locate them.  If you install licensing, and locate the "lmtools" utility, you should see the hardware key listed in the "System Settings" tab.

 

Another utility installed with licensing is "pcls_ok".  You can use that to test if the "pwrshell" license is available.  The "Details>" box should give more clues if the license fails to check out.

 

It is also worth checking that your license has not expired if you have not used PADS for a long time.

 

Finally, you mention re-setting the date on your PC.  If you get a message about "System date set back", please let me know by replying to this message.

Michael,

what version of the Expedition Enterprise are you running in production?

There was a security change in IOD Library updater and this required EE7.9.4 update #40 or EE7.9.5 update  #29 or later to be installed

Looking at the release notes I see that for VX.1 you should have update#3 or later installed for the IO Designer Library updater to work successfully

Mike,

 

I use X-ENTP VX.1. This is what Help->About Dialog Box is saying.

 

Up to now I could not solve the problem.

 

For me it seems that IO Designer is searching on an old location. But I could neither found out how to change this nor I would know what the new location is.

Go to www.dropbox.com and subscribe.

 

But Dropbox is no longer required.  PartQuest now supports direct downloads to your computer download location.  Go to your PartQuest Profile and download the latest PartQuest Integration Utilities.

 

Then with a conventional web download you can download parts in a PartQuest Zip format.   Double click on the .pqz file and the encrypted parts, symbols and footprints are extracted into a "dropbox" like folder environment compatible with the PartQuest utilities.

Using xDM Library tools, File Import EDX

If you are using xDX Databook, Run Tools, Import PartQuest Parts from xDX Designer to import additional properties into the PartQuest Access database.

Hello Pat, Thank you for reply. I think I should have asked appropriate question. what I wanted to ask is I have shared connector in my designs(some of them might be released) and let's say from today I don't users to use that for future releases of designs. Thank you.

Which part of the hyperlink are you selecting, to the left or right of the arrow? Left takes you to the help, right to the component. But oddly your output looks different to the output I get, the error number and associated component are in one line. See my output for illustration.

Hi Vern,

Altium to xDx Designer translator translate only symbols not decals for library, doesn't it? What will we do to translate also decals, and finally create real central library contains symbol, decals, parts?

 

Could you please provide address for migration page? I couldn't find it in Supportnet.

 

Also I found Alt2PE.exe in 2 different location under installation. Which one should we use?

 

C:\MentorGraphics\PADSProVX.1.1\SDD_HOME\pads\win32\bin

and

C:\MentorGraphics\PADSProVX.1.1\SDD_HOME\common\win32\bin

 

Also there isn't any documentation under help etc. for Altium to PADS Pro Layout translation. And need document about how to integrate this translated layout to translated DxDesigner schematic and central library.

It seems you need following license. It is already available in some suite, bundle licenses. (PADS Standard, Plus, Professional etc.) If you already have this license, maybe you need license software upgrade etc. to correcly serve this feature.

- Create a padstack for the connector like this!

Advanced Technology module and LTCC technology

Hi everyone. I need information about how to implement LTCC technology in Xpedition PCB with features of "advanced technology" module. Maybe there is a Workbook or any other instructions that I didn't find. LTCC is mentioned on the Mentor Graphics official website (in the functions of Xpedition PCB) but I couldn't even find specific functions for it. Thanks for your help. Appreciate your suggestions and answers.

Gulin,

 

From the PADS.com support page, you can search for Altium Translation. There are several links to the help pages for Altium Library Translation, and also schematic translation and layout.

 

Alt2PE.exe should be used from the C:\MentorGraphics\PADSProVX.1.1\SDD_HOME\common\win32\bin location.

 

When this command is run, it will translate the Layout and link it to the previously translated schematic and library using the Project file.

That error is against the library symbol, notice the "sym" near the beginning of the message.  Only the com errors provide navigation to the component.

 

A solution to that particular error is covered in TechNote mg29989. It is a cfg file change because having a PKG_TYPE on the library symbol really isn't required.

Hi David,

 

 

 

Thank you for your answer. I tried reinstalling the license. “lmtools” “pcls_ok” did not show the hardware key or “pwrshell”. I then looked at a file called “site_(six digit number).txt” that I think is the license txt file and saw a line that reads:

 

 

 

Increment padsped-c mgcld 2008.120  31-mar-2014

 

 

 

Does this means my license expired March 31 2014? I last used PADs Dec 2013.

 

 

 

I know I let my maintenance contract expire when we stopped using PADs regularly and that I was no longer entitled to updates and full support. I did not realize there would come a time when I would not be allowed to use the older version of PADs I had bought and paid for.

LTCC layout  process  is nothing new,  it's layout process is like thick film hybrid. XpeditionPCB support this process very very well.

you can open the sample data (whichi is a LTCC design.) from VX.1 3D layout toturial, and you will see how well XpeditionPCB  supports caviaties, embeded passive, stack die etc.

For general LTCC, you have to see other industrial guides from greetape vendors .

I got confused. Pads professional just is xPCB Layout, so you don't need any translation between Pads Pro and ExpeditonPCB.

Am I wrong?
