Assuming you are using the PCB Interface (PADS or other netlist) then close the sheets and re-run the command, sometimes it has problems with open sheets and other times it doesn't. I've never figured out why.

License request for pwrshell feature failed - need help please
Hi, I am running PADS Layout 2005 SPac1 Build #2005.103.1 on a Windows XP computer. (yeah, I know you are wondering why)
I am receiving this error:
Security System wasn't properly initialized: License request for pwrshell feature failed the program will run in demo mode.
I have a Flexid - 9 - 2A14F48B dongle. When I plug it in Windows sees it and says Aladdin Knowledge System Key. The new hardware wizard opens.
I downloaded a program called checkplusid from Viewlogic Systems I found listed on a Mentor Graphics website page. I put the dongle in every USB port on my computer and ran the program but each time it said No ID detected. I have not run the PADs in a year but need to make a change on the last PCB I did. Now I am stuck.
I am thinking I should reinstall the drivers but I am not sure what driver to download.
If I could, I would like to get PADs to run on my newer computer which uses Windows 8.1 but I am not sure if it will run or how to go about transferring it over. My old computer is on its last legs and I have to reset the time and date each time I turn it on.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

3D view in Cell editer
Hi all,
When I open cell editor directly and there is no option called "Add 3D view" under Window tab as described in info hub. But when I open cell editor in XPCBLayout by right click on relevant component and select cell edit, "Add 3D view" option is available under Window tab. Anyone know the reason and how to assign the 3D model to the part correctly ?
Re: Constraints to net properties convertion
No, it will not be visible in the schematic only in CES.
The problem is when you review the schematic you should be able to see eg. the net classes on the nets in the schematic. It is easier to see if you have missed a net.
PADS Layout 9.5 - move imported from dxf (tracks) is very slow (several minutes per action)
Dears
My common activity is importing projects into PADS Layout from gerber data (to prepare "fake PCBs" containing components placed on it based on coordinates, ant then to build 3D model based on ascii / idf output.
One part of my work is to import most important layers into PCB file. Layers came from dxf files previously exported from gerber files.
But sometimes (especially for copper layers containing a lot of traces) it is realy hard (very slow) to move selected imported shape (to move it into origin) even it this shape is combined.
Such actions (move) can take a few, reveral or more minutes even...
Please help me to do it faster, in more efficient way.
Thank you very much and best regards
Mariusz
Re: PADS Layout 9.5 - move imported from dxf (tracks) is very slow (several minutes per action)
You might consider trying the VX.1 release. They made a vast improvement in how large groups of items are selected/moved. PADS 9.5 tries to draw/redraw each element with every nudge of the mouse. In the VX.1, they must do something to create a "shadow" of the objects to move, then only redraw it completely once placed.
You can also set a location as the group's origin. Then once selected, position your mouse over the new location. Press <ctrl-e> to move, then just <left-click> and it'll all move at once. (This won't work so well if you have to fine-tune adjust placement.)
You can also consider grouping the elements into a Reuse Block. This isn't for "copy-paste", but to group parts/traces/vias/drafting lines. You can then reset the origin of the Reuse Block. Pressing <alt-enter> brings up the properties block where you can type in your (x,y) location.
By the way, the new PADS VX.1.2 and a PADS Standard/Standard Plus license will give you access to PADS 3D. This give you the ability to export a .STEP file instead of the yucky IDF format. (https://www.mentor.com/company/news/mentor-new-3d-solution-pads-flow )
You could consider installing the PADS VX tool and trying it out. When you're done, you can export the ASCII to PADS 9.5 format.
Re: Busbar styling
Perhaps my Post was not clear but Example 1 was in regards to the fact that it appears the parameters are always. Expecting certain decoration. Perhaps this example will be a little more clear. Lay down a generic device that is 5 pin grids wide. Select it right click> properties and go to the parameters tab. Under Param: top remove corner-TL, corner-TR and two of the decoration so that you are left with the following:

In Logic the device is updated to look like this

Note it treats the corners as if they are blanked, and does not create a hline graphic at the corners, even though Corner-TL and Corner-TR are not in the parameters. When this same device is resize to be 1 pin grid (i.e. only corners exist), the hline is not displayed at all. This is why I asked Question 3, is there anything that defines what a parameter is required to have. If the tool is expecting a top to always have corners, then it will affect if we can use 1 pin grid wide devices, as well as how we build the glyphs.
Re: Busbar styling
How do you utilize the pin-TL, pin-TR, pin-BL, pin-BR, nopin-TL, nopin-TR, nopin-BL, nopin-BR parameters. We have set the param: border to 0.0, and have defined a rounded corner for pin-TL and nopin-TL, yet all the pin and no pin at the corners still seem to display the pin and nopin paramerter of vline.

Hyperlinks from "view pcb" not working
Hi,
I am trying to get the referance numbers in my schematic design. I have some pages of imported from orcad. So I am getting errors but, when I click the errors, it is not taking me to that component. Find that particular component using "find and replace" function is cumbersome. Is there any way ?
On the attached pic "pcb: Note 6057: Phase2 sym 495_0394_REV_A:RES0603: PKG_TYPE=: Bad property value " this is supposed to take me to the component right??
xPCB Layout's Limition on Arc Plowing and The idea
As We known, VX.1 now support to arc plowing when it found normal plowing style isn't feasible on pin/via hex area . I have posted the idea on the idea site 3 years ago and feedback to Mentor. I hope a hanced are plowing feature will in coming VX.2

Single Node Componet
Hello
Is there any way to check the Single Node component through Valor
Thanks and Regards
sabitha
!
Re: Single Node Componet
Single Node only means a net which have only one pin. Most of Schematics or Layout tool have a built-in check to report nets of single node. Valor is targeted to DFx, not for logic ERC, so there is no a feature to let you check single node. If you wanna do this type of check in Valor side, you can consider toto write a script to check netlist. the netlist file is an ascii file and it's easy to write a simple script to check signal node.

Re: Single Node Componet
BTW, if you means one terminal component,Valor can list and hilight all component with only terminal

Re: how to get demonstration enable code for hyperlynx ?
Dear Cathy ;
I am trying to follow module 1 of Hyperlynx Signal Integrity Quick Tour video. I connected to cloud to use Hyperlynx in virtual lab.I set up the given circuit to make simulations to see ring back and overshoot issues.
But my circuit simulation did not show me ring back like in video.
Please find attachments related to LineSim circuit and Virtual oscilloscope results.

PS: My 7 days of virtual lab access has expired. Is it possible to renew the session?

Yes Yanfeng ,I meant one terminal Component ,In which Analysis it detect these errors ,Can you please share the name of error so that I can set the ERF ...
Thanks for your quick respose

Re: Single Node Componet
1)turn componet layer on
2)click icon "display component filter"
3)click button "Advanced" and set filter item "0< =pin cout <=1"
4) close the fileter dialog and click button select or highlight all component which having one terminal
