sorry, I not have accounts for Support. another, I unable add file in here. The link is video and file, whether or not help me submit to supportnet.mentor.com?  Thank!

another, I also find some other problem,  for example, in xPCB Layout VX.1.1, if typing "a" ,don't appear keyins dialog box.  use left arrow can appear.  but if want use "as dx=x,y #cols #rows" copy a draw object, use left arrow cause the object move.

sorry,my English is poor.

Carlos,

Did you try to reduce the the design area in Altium before translating? If you are still having problems after reducing the area in Altium, please contact Mentor customer support as they are excellent in helping. Also it will help if you can provide them with Altium file.

Regards, Yan

Yan,

I don’t have Altium.  If I did, I’d just make the modifications in Altium and not worry about translating to PADS.

The file was provided by my customer who got it from another consultant.  I don’t have the ability to make any changes to it.

A Quick Fix for the Problem

Quite by accident, I've found a way to make multiple dongles work together, at least on my system:

  • Turn off system
  • Remove all keys from the system, except for the Pads key.
  • Turn on system and boot
  • After login, plug in rest of keys

I sometimes have to stop/re-start the Orcad key in order to make Orcad work, but after that all my software works together.

Long Term Fix

I'm told that there is now a fix in the works and I am looking forward to this issue being put to rest for good.

I greatly appreciate that the Mentor management has taken this issue seriously after the rather lukewarm response I got from the initial application engineer. This is much more in-line with the generally competent and responsive support I've gotten from the Pads staff over the years.

Thank you.

xDX Designer Part Lister missing components

Does anyone know how to fix a problem where the parts lister in the integrated DX Design flow outputs a .csv file with no components? I'm using the DefaultCSV file, changed the delimiter to a comma and then adjusted the columns to output the manufacturer PN, Qty, and reference designators. The resuling file I get is:

PNQTYReference Designator
#Multiple1#Multiple

The weird part was that it showed some of my 30+ components when I used the unaltered config. Thanks for any suggestions. I've found some really weird bugs in the integrated flow but I'm also learning this flow for the first time so I don't if it's a new bug or just an old dog learning new tricks.

Enjoy,
Jason

FYI:

Here's the default list, which excludes most of they parts I pulled from the ODA Starter Library:

Thanks, Pat – someone else pointed this out to me this afternoon. I will look into it right away.

You cannot set the delimiter to comma. This will destroy the CSV Format because the ID is seperated by comma.

9 Components      $1I51,$1I52,$1I53....

the components will be created as a comma seperated list. This will corrupt your CSV structure.

Use any different character.

It will be truncated at the comma of the first ID.

Use a text editor and look into the csv file. Exist's the components?

Thank you for the information. It didn't fix all my problems, but it will at lease reduce my problems by one. I reran using the | delimiter and opened in a txt editor and am still missing all the components from the ODA library. My total BOM count should be close to 25 unique parts.

Without seeing the Design it is very hard to identify any causes.

What I see the last time is:

If the "LEVEL=STD" Property is set to "LEVEL=Standart", the Part is missing in the Partlist.

What I basically will say:

I assume it will depend on the Properties.

You should check the Important Properties

          "Ref Designator"

          "Part Number"

and so on ... (class, Level, Forward to PCB)

You should check the Primary and secondary key.

Check if all Properties are common Properties. (Non Common Properties will not be on the partlist)

Through-Hole Libraries?

Hello,

I am currently making a board in DxDesigner and I need to replicate it from Eagle. This schematic uses this 40 pin header(MA20-2) from a library(con-lstb.lbr) that comes with Eagle when it is installed. Here is a link:

http://www.diymodules.org/eagle-show-library?type=std&file=con-lstb.lbr

Does anyone know if DxDesigner has a library similar to this when installed? This symbol is just two rows of through-holes.

Yes, finally. It took some time for them to find the issue, then it required a restart. I had put an announcement up on the home page about the temporary maintenance that occurred. I am just glad it is back to normal. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Shielding in 3D

Hi!

I've made a shielded (coaxial) cable with an SMA connector at both ends, I'd like to make a 3D harness of it in Creo. Well the main problem is, that if I connect the shield to one of the pins (first picture), it's not exported to the .nwf file. However I can make a splice, and connect that to the pin (second picture, I named the wire SHIELD), with a different wire, while the shield itself wont  be exported, the splice is like a connector with one pin in the exported file. Like this, I have to import another model named as the splice, and place it somewhere in the 3D design for proper connection. In some cases, this would be alright, because usually you need a shield terminator and a different wire, to connect the shield, but in the case of the SMA or a BNC connector you connect it to the housing, without using any separate terminator. Is there a convenient way to solve this problem? By the way, I can export a VeSys 3D wiring file in .xml and the shield is exported to that file, just I cant use it in Creo, where or  how could I use this specific file? (in Creo there's an import option "Mentor Graphics" but it says invalid file for the VeSys 3D xml)

Lac

Re: Can I use Digi-Key's Designer Schematic as a front-end tool to Xpedition VX.1.1

We have a customer who is looking to replace his old Power Logic schematic software and doesn't want to spent a lot of money for his schematic software.

The schematics that they make are not very complex.

We are working with VX.1.1 and he wants that we do the PCB layout.

We have a lot of customers who have a front-end like Ulticap, Eagle, Power Logic etc.

Can you more explain about beta testing?

Maybe it is interesting for us.

Is there a way to switch off "Mounted" or "Opposite" layers in a through hole padstack?

I am attempting to create a Decal for a through hole component in Pads Layout. The board that this component will go on is double sided however I do not want pads on both sides of the board for the component nor do I want the hole plated. I have created the component but I get Connectivity errors because the hole is not plated and actually no connection exists on the offending layer. Fills and thermal relief patterns also cause an issue. I have "hacked" the component with a copper keepout to prevent the fills from reaching the holes but surely there is a better way? Is there an option to tell Pads that the component is only connected on one side and not both sides of the board?

If you don't need Forward Annotate or update the original schematic, you can open Designer Schematic project with xDX Designer and then export a keyin netlist.

It's a one way flow since once you have opened the project with xDX Designer, you cannot open it again with Designer Schematic.

I never try it, but this procedure has been indicated by Digikey.

Bortolo
