xPCB Draw Object Snap Grid problem
Re: How to add 3D models to cells in CENTRAL library?
later on versions, "Designer Flow" ,able to or not save the Model Mappings to the Central library ? methinks save the Model Mappings to the Central library is conveniency. Thank!
Re: How can I delete all project at a time in vesys 2.0
You can follow the instructions in "How To: Create an empty database (embedded)" to delete EVERYTHING from VeSys 2.0 (projects, symbols, component library, style sets).
How To: Create an empty database (embedded)
You can also make use of the premigrate and migrate commands to export/import sets of data.
Re: How to add 3D models to cells in CENTRAL library?
I forgot to write to this post, that we managed to get the central library working. Now it's available to add the models to the library. I don't think "designer flow" is able to save the 3D models to the central lib., you have to manage it in the XDM Library Client software.

Re: Pads Gerber,offset in Gerber tool(view mate ) ??
Interesting. I looked up the Gerber standard (you can Google it) and see it does support negative coordinates. Only PADS does not support negative coordinates in the Gerber output. That's odd.
Re: DFF: Error: Layer Compare Error
Silkscreen on pads is bad; you can't solder silkscreen. Correcting the decals is best. Most fabs will offer the option to clear the silkscreen from the pads as required.
Re: Where has my Connections Stream gone?
I see what you mean, Simon. I hadn't noticed this until now. What most likely has happened is that Jive (our communities platform provider) has rolled out some quarterly updates that have affected the community stream. Let me look into it further and get back to you. In the meantime, by my name in the upper right is an orange button with an "@" symbol and the # of items in my Jive inbox I haven't read. If you click on this button, does it provide you with your Connection Stream items? Within your inbox, if you click on an item, it opens it on the lower part of the page and you can respond from there (as I am doing with your post).
Will get back to you with more info.
Re: Where has my Connections Stream gone?
Hi,
Unfortunately, my Connections Stream doesn't appear in my Inbox, so this doesn't work.
The only way I have found to get there is to manually type the URL I mentioned above (ie "https://communities.mentor.com/news")
The Jive documentation seems to suggest that you can get to 'News' from your home page. But I can't find that either.

How to export global signal names from DxDesigner?
Hello,
I am working on a project for some engineering stakeholders and I have been asked to export global signal names as part of this project. Global signal names appear on nets. I do not know how to do this and searching on the website has not yet yielded any answers, although I will keep looking. Does DxDesigner have that function natively or will it require a script in order to perform this task?
Thanks and regards,
Sean M.
Re: xPCB Draw Object Snap Grid problem
We will look into this issue internally, but for better response please file a Service Request through Support Net at supportnet.mentor.com so we can provide you with a log to track the issue.
Thanks,
Vern
Re: How to export global signal names from DxDesigner?
Does File Export Quick Connection View give you the detailed required?
Re: How to export global signal names from DxDesigner?
Re: How to export global signal names from DxDesigner?
One alternative way would be to use the Keyin Netlist (File > Export > Keyin Netlist) although QCV does a lot cleaner job and can handle Global Nets specifically.
Re: How to export global signal names from DxDesigner?
Hello,
The find/replace option seems to be the better of the two for my application. I am not sure if it is exactly what I need, but it's better.
Re: How to export global signal names from DxDesigner?
Actually, I tried the quick connect view, and it gave me what I needed when I configured it right.
Layout translation from Altium
I'm trying to work with a layout file from a customer (done by another consultant) in Altium. I have a .pcbdoc file from Altium. I've tried importing it into layout, but get a bunch of warnings. The .log file (attached) has lots of warnings about that things it can't handle, but ultimately, it says:
"[F] The input design is too large for PADS Layout. Reduce the size of the design to 56000 mils square and try again."
In the Gerbers I have for the design, I see there's a large drawing border about 20 x 15 inches. That should be within the limits for PADS, so I don't understand the problem, but that's what I'm seeing.
I really don't want to ask my customer to ask the other consultant to remove the border and re-save the database... especially since I figure there's a substantial possibility the end result won't be usable anyway. I did try importing it using V9.5 and VX.1.1. I also tried the stand-alone PADS Layout Translator - that gave the same results, just in a window.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Carlos
Re: Layout translation from Altium
Carlos - thanks for your post. This community is just for Member Feedback - questions/suggestions about the communities in general. I am going to move your question to the more appropriate PADS community, where it will get much greater visibility for a response. Thanks again for using Mentor Communities.
Re: Layout translation from Altium
Carlos,
PADS translator for Altium can translate version 14. As long as there are no errors the translated database can be used. Although I suggest you review Warning logs as no translations are 100%.
As far as the coordinates warning you may have 2D lines or text on some layer that is out of PADS limits. I suggest removing or deleting offending items prior to translation.
Regards, Yan
Re: Layout translation from Altium
Yan,
It did not generate a PADS database at all. When I did via the File | Import, the PADS database remained empty. When I did it from the stand-alone translator, no file was generated. There’s nothing for me to use – that’s the whole problem.
Carlos
