Re: Is there a way to import X-Y placement data?
Re: DxDesigner Automation Utilities (DxD-AU)
What for do I need the plugin manager? I'm on VX.1.2 meanwhile. I just see the Plugin Manager's pop up window, but can't imagine which kind of advantage I'll get from it. I tried to remove the row
Run "%DxDAU%\Plugin Manager.exe"
from DxDesStartup.vbs, successfully, I guess. The Plugin manager pull down menu is still accessible and the tools called from there are still working.
Re: create a drawing cell using items from layout's electrical layers
yes, after they're in the library it's easy to work with them. These type of shapes+texts came from a PADS layout converted to Xpedition. There are other similar items that I'd like to store in the library. I just wanted to speed up the "have them in a cell" process. I hate to recreate something that's been already done, I am lazy like that
Re: Is there a way to import X-Y placement data?
Here is another one for you. A program that I wrote. Runs from inside layout. Reads the first open excel file it finds. Looks for refdes, x, y, rotation values. Will not flip sides or move a glued part. Was written a while back for pads 2007 and when excel extension was xls, but have also used it with Pads VX.1.1 and Excel 2010 and it still works. Have had it fail when multiple excel files were open and one I wanted was not in list.

How to export a complete net from layout which was found by Calibre LVS finder?
Hi,
I ran Calibre LVS and from Calibre RVE finder i highlighted a net, now i want to export the net into a new gds with all the layers present in the net, Is it possible?
If possible can you please let me know.
Thanks for your help.
DxDatabook: empty field replaced with 0R value
I have a table with a numeric field (Z100MHz) that represents the impedance of ferrite beads components. I checked the "Show Unit for IEC62" and added the field to "Use European for property" textbox on dxdatabook option. For some item the field is empty but when i load the table inside DxDatabook i see "0R" value.
Why?
Thanks
Re: Is there a way to import X-Y placement data?
Thanks everyone - 3 great suggestions. For what I need to do PADS Router is perfect and a tool I completely forgot about.

Thanks for your post. I am going to move this to the IC Design community where it will receive more visibility. This site is for questions on general community items or suggestions.
Re: How to export a complete net from layout which was found by Calibre LVS finder?
Hello,
If you are using Calibre DESIGNrev, this Calibre How To video might help:
How to extract & highlight a net using Calibre DESIGNrev - YouTube
Re: How to export a complete net from layout which was found by Calibre LVS finder?
Hello,
Thank you for your response, this is some thing similar to what i am looking for..
But In the above video we need to give the connectivity information based on original drawing layers, but we will be using some derived layers in extraction of electrical net in LVS. Calibre LVS deck is already establishing net connectivity, so i want to use that information in net extraction and want to export complete net into a new gds with only the layers present in that net..
Can we use Calibre LVS deck connectivity information here in extracting net?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Wire Usual
Hello All
I have a question regarding the creation of a new wire on Vesys 2.0. When creating a new wire there is a tick box which says "Wire Usual". However I have no idea what ticking or un ticking the box does, I have attached a screen shot to the thread. Please can some explain to me what this function is.
Many Thanks
Simulation of edge to tri-state transition
Hi all,
The situation:
I'm getting some weird measurements at the output of an LVCMOS output. The output can be high, low or tri-stated becaused it's a shared signal between multiple IC's. At the moment that I'd expect the signal to go into tri-state, a really fast edge occurs which then travels back and forth on the PCB trace, causing large ringing.
The assumption:
Just before the output buffer is disabled, the default high value is already written into the buffer, causing it to put an edge onto the trace approximately 1ns before going into high-Z. Since the PCB trace is now an unterminated transmission line, the edge keeps bouncing up and down and is only attenuated by the trace loss.
The question:
Can I simulate this behavior (fast edge to high-Z) in HyperLynx SI in order to confirm my assumption and try some terminations in order to mitigate the ringing? And if so, how can I do that?
Best regards,

Re: DxDatabook: empty field replaced with 0R value
This is a known issue which has been fixed in VX.2, though you will now get 0 instead of 0R for empty value fields.
Re: Wire Usual
Hi Chris,
One should select the "Wire Usual" option to indicate which wire size should be selected by default when two or more wire sizes share a Material code and CSA
Thanks

How to calculate the metal area for some power signals
Suppose that I have generated 3 power signals (VSSI, VCCI, VCCE) and that I want to calculate the metal (only one layer, for example M1) area (as a percentage) of each signal. Is it possible accomplish this? Someone may give me a hint?
Re: Wire Usual
Hi Saurabh
Many thanks for your response, much appreciated.
Re: Use of project properties to control Severity and Availability for a custom DRC
IXDRCheckAdvancedConfiguration is already implemented and working good for different running modes. But it seems that the ApplicationContext (to get current project settings) is also not available in getSeverity(), getAvailability(). Below is shows that it is not available for getName(), etc. Later on in other methods the ApplicationContext is available.
Do you agree with the assumption? Or maybe there is another way to get current project properties (other than ApplicationContext)?

My first impression is ......Something wrong with product registration .....
Try Re-Registration of products (Refence = MG586305 - This technote is about Startup Menus - But should help you to show How you can run Re-Registration and related Defects)......
