Content pages load slowly

The site seems to run slower than other sites I access. I'll click a link, and it'll take 15-30 seconds to load while other site are 1-2 seconds. My "user expectation" is 1 second to load or less.

How do I "bookmark" Communities?

Every time I log in, I have to find the communities I'm interested in the "Browse->Places" and find them in the list.

Is there a way to "bookmark" these communities to my user-specific list?

Eldo problem in HyperLynx

I'm trying to run a simple SMPS model in HyperLynx. The SPICE model is an encrypted model from TI. I've created a SPICE circuit with the subckt definition and pointed to the .lib file containing the encrypted model. Unfortunately I get the following error when trying to run this in HyperLynx LineSim.

Error: ** Error: (eldo-25)  In file "C:\MentorGraphics\9.3PADS\SDD_HOME\hyperlynx\Libs\SPICE\LM2840X-Q1_TRANS.LIB" line 43:

+   Line not consistent with language syntax.

I've tried adding the .option of .option TISPICE thinking this could solve any compatibility problems. Unfortunately since the model is encrypted from TI, I can't really view the models to see what could be going on. Is this a line continuation problem?

Any help or insight would be nice.

Thanks!

Rob,

Thank you!  I have this working now.   You are correct that DxDataBook is the answer.  In the past we relied on having all the information in the library symbol.    With proper DEVICE and PKG_TYPE in the schematic everything is great.

For today’s crisis, I’m manually entering that data, but DxDataBook will resolve that problem and I should have it going next week.

Thanks again!

Robert - my apologies for the inconvenience. We are in the process of migrating our Mentor Ideas site into Mentor Communities today and tomorrow so that customers will have one location to submit product enhancement ideas and to engage with other users thru the forums. We were told there might be some performance hits to other areas of the site. They couldn't tell us what those might look like, but now I have an idea from your experience. The performance hits will be intermittent, and will be limited in scope. Again, my apologies for the inconvenience.

I am also new to design Capture and want to learn more about it for my future projects. I don't know much about it but as per my observation in the Design Capture you can de-highlight the placed components.

It is automatic but you have to use the Place mode.

Thanks for your question, Robert. There are a couple of different ways to bookmark a community:

1. Once you log in and go to your community y9ou want to bookmark, select the Create drop down in upper right corner (it has a pencil icon beside it). In that drop down there should be the option of Bookmark.

or - and this is my preferred option,

2. I just copy the url into my Favorites bar across the top of my browser.

Please let me know if other questions, and thanks for being part of the Mentor Communities.

Thanks! It seems to have gotten worse over the past couple of days. I'm looking forward to seeing the two sites merged! I really like the idea of having one place to go for everything "community" for a tool.

Robert – if you are still seeing issues on Monday, please let me know and I will investigate further. Thanks.

Great! But where do the bookmarks show up following process #1?

If you choose that option, fill in the first field and select Next, it then takes you to another short form that gives you the option to name as you want, add notes, tags, and make the bookmark private to you. Select Save and it shows the bookmark is created, and you can then View them. After all that, you can access them in the future by going to View Profile (drop down under your avatar), select More drop down, and select Bookmarks.

That is why I use option #2. ☺

Re: How to export Composite Table information to Excel?

I wanted to share a 'work-around' solution I found - in the meantime:

If you print/save the table as a .pdf (you may have to set a new print region), then you should be able to import the .pdf with the following free java tool:

Tabula: Extract Tables from PDFs

import.png

You can run the Jar file directly with this command:

java -Dfile.encoding=utf-8 -Xms256M -Xmx1024M -jar tabula.jar

Also, if you already are using the default port 8080, you can bind the application to another port, and run it, with this command:

java -Dfile.encoding=utf-8 -Xms256M -Xmx1024M -Dwarbler.port=9999 -jar tabula.jar

example_Tabula.png

I also was not able to get this to run using IE V 11 - though both Firefox and Chrome worked perfectly.

Perhaps if someone is proficient enough in java programming, the use of this could be somewhat integrated and/or automated with a plugin or custom action.

The source code can be found here:

https://github.com/tabulapdf/tabula

Thanks,

Pete

Yes ... #1 could work better. It would be nice if it added a "hot links" to the top of your page. Maybe you can make them visible through your profile settings.

The latest release of PartQuest includes support for the PADS integrated flow, not just the netlist flow. With this new support, all PADS Standard Plus and PADS Professional customers can search for parts with full EDA symbols and footprints.

Also new is the ability for all PartQuest users to download part attributes, symbols, and footprints through their browser, rather than using Dropbox. For a full list of PartQuest release notes, click here.

Visit PartQuest and try it for yourself!

Re: nmLVS: "NO LVS PUSH DEVICES" warning?

Dear Dan,

thanks so much for your reply! You were right, the problem appears when the following option is checked while PEXing: "Outputs->SVDB->Generate Calibre Connectivity Interface data", and goes away if, under that very same option, I enable "Suppress pin-location information" (which has the effect of changing the, in the _calibre.rcx_ file, the entry

"MASK SVDB DIRECTORY "svdb" QUERY XRC"

to

"MASK SVDB DIRECTORY "svdb" QUERY XRC CCI NOPINLOC".

I still wonder though, what am I actually disabling by choosing the "Suppress pin-location information" option? Is this something accessory to the actual LVS/PEX operation, or it could potentially harm and make invalid my results? The documentation says little beyond the obvious; all I understood is that the CCI data is related for the integration of Calibre with other EDA tools (in particular, Virtuoso, which I am using).

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers,

Jorge.

nmLVS/PEX: "NO LVS PUSH DEVICES" warning?

Hi all! I hope I'm the right place to ask this question. Whenever I do an LVS/PEX I get the following warning in the "Extraction Results" section:

"WARNING: Cannot enable LVS PUSH DEVICES because pin location information was requested"

I'm clueless about what this means as I haven't been able to find any information on this type of error in the documentation. Even though it seems it can be ignored, I REALLY would like to understand what is going on here and how to get rid of this message, if possible at all.

Thanks for any help!

Cheers,

Jorge.

Re: Obtaining Hierarchical Netlist with Calibre PEX

Hi. To run a hierarchical extraction, you have to select hierarchical, which you did, but you also need to specify an hcell file. It defaults to the name hcells, but this might be an empty file. You need to fill it with the actual cell names that you want hierarchically extracted.

Re: Transistors Floating in Calibre View

The transistors may not be floating. What you can do is query the pin, and see the node name. Then somewhere else, say on a parasitic resistor, there should be the same node name. The main question is, when you run simulation with the calibreview, is everything connected up, and are you seeing simulation results that are expected?

Hello Peter

Thank you - interesting workaround! Looking forward to someone stepping up with a java hint.

Pat
