We have HyperLynx 3D EM 15.3.1 and HyperLynx SI PI Thermal 9.2.
I need to simulate crosstalk between signals that pass through a connector between two perpendicular boards. The connector is a "card-edge" type (i.e., mates with card-edge fingers on the PCB). I have looked through the HyperLynx 3D EM manual and it is not apparent whether there is a way to import a drawing/model from the connector manufacturer for incorporation as a 3D item between the two perpendicular boards. Is it possible to import a drawing/model from the connector manufacturer (what format?) and incorporate it as a 3D item between perpendicular boards (I have *hyp files for boards)?... or does the connector need to be drawn manually using polygons?... or do the connector and boards need to be drawn manually using polygons? With regards to the last two options, a word search of the manual reveals use of the word "tedious" 16 times. Is there a simple way.
I'm aware that a multi-board design can be associated with connector S-paramaters and simulated, and others have done that here. However, there's nothing 3D about S-parameters and I'm required to perform a 3D simulation, including the 3D connector perpendicular boards.
