As Bartolo stated, it is only necessary to have a separate tree if mixing 32 and 64 bit versions. But the software will work either way. It is not necessary to install the 64-bit applications on a 64-bit OS, the choice of whether to install the 64-bit version of Mentor applications depends on design size and comes with some caveats.
